Rosario Pipolo (Naples, 1973) is an Italian journalist and communication specialist. As freelancer he worked for independent Italian newspapers including Linkiesta.it and Affaritaliani.it.
He trained studying theatrical direction (Ruggero Cappuccio and Gilles Coullet), dramaturgical writing (Francesco Silvestri) and cinema and audiovisual (Mario Martone, Pappi Corsicato and Mimmo Calopresti).
He deepened the English language and Anglo-American culture at the Francis King School in London and the Long Island University in New York. In 1998 he graduated with honors in Foreign Languages ​​and Literatures at the Federico II University of Naples with an experimental thesis on cdrom on Pinter’s contribution to Losey’s cinema.
His mentors were the founder of CinemAvvenire Massimo Calanca and the historians of the Theater and Cinema Franco Carmelo Greco and Mino Argientieri. In 2010 he specialized in Web Communication at the IED in Milan.

CINEMA

From 1994 to 2000 he was President of the Youth Jury of CinemAvvenire (Anica-Flash Award) at the Venice Film Festival under the direction of Gillo Pontecorvo, He was part of the young jury of Pesaro and Turin Festivals. Creator of the Fellini 2000 project, in collaboration with Mediaset and the Fellini Foundation of Rimini, he valued the work of the director of La dolce vita among young generations of the 2000’s.

MEDIA AND UNIVERSITY RESEARCH

From 1994 to 2001 he worked for the daily press (Il Golfo, Il Tempo, Il Giornale), television (Eutelsat, Telepiù, Videomusic, TMC2) radio (Quintarete FM); he was press offices (Telethon). He interviewed more 300 people among directors, actors and musicians such as Jack Nicholson, Dustin Hoffman, Whoopi Goldberg, John Turturro, Annie Lennox, Nick Cave, Bob Geldof. He developed audiovisual products, including some short films screened at reviews in Italy. He was copywriter for cultural projects (from Legambiente to the Mediterranean Festival) and RAI environmental TV programs such as LINEABLU and LINEAVERDE.
From 1999 to 2002 he taught at the chair of Theory and Technique of Mass Communications of the Faculty of Sociology of the “Federico II” University of Naples. He took part in the research projects “The management of communication in a crisis situation” (CE.MI.SS, Ministry of Defense, 2000); Eureka (Leonardo 2000); Agapè (Leonardo, Campania Region, 2001), to the organization of the conference “Communications, crisis, media and society” (2001) and signed a scientific contribution on the monographic issue of the magazine “Nord & Sud” (ESI, 2000), to edited by Prof. Rossella Savarese.

DIGITAL

Moved to Milan in 2002, he was editor for offline and online publishing projects for Lavazza, Mediadigit, TGCOM, IL Sole 24 Ore, De Agostini and Fininternet. Consultant in corporate training (Communication and Safety at work area) for client companies of Selfin-IBM, T-Systems, Sfera-ENEL, Nestlé, BNL, Campari, E-Biscom, AGFA and Del Monte, from 2006 to 2011 he was Editior in Chief of the web magazine Milanodabere.it, in the publishing startup phase, the reference in Internet entertainment with more than 2 million pages visited per month. As a guest journalist he appeared in the foreign press, on the pages of the French group of Nice-Matin.

BRAND JOURNALISM

From 2009 to 2020 as Communication Specialist in external communication of Europ Assistance Italia (Generali Group), he was responsible for the development and management of social channels, corporate blogs and on and offline content. He developed a growing activity of brand journalism spreading in those years under american influence of Larry Light. On behalf of the Generali company he worked on brand projects focusing on Travel & Sport in collaboration with Lonely Planet Italia, Touring Club, Visit Corsica, Visit California, IgersItalia, PaesionLine, BIT Milan, Social Media Week Milan, Festa della Rete (ex BlogFest ), RCS Sport, A.C. Milan, F.C. Inter, Milan Marathon, ColorRun, Icarus 2.0 SkySport HD, Outdoor Festival, Gran Fondo Giro d’Italia, Nove Colli. Furthermore, in 2013, he managed the social accounts of EA Italia for the guerrilla marketing campaign of the #L1F3 submarine, conceived by M & C Saatchi for Genertel-Europ Assistance and quoted by the American CNN.

PUBLICATIONS

He was among the last in Italy to deal with the Nobel Prize Harold Pinter and cinema, publishing the essay “Harold Pinter screentwriter for Losey between literature, cinema and multimedia (EdiSu, Naples 1999), examination text at the Faculty of Sociology in the years 2000-2001. He spoke, in the presence of Pinter himself, at the Harold Pinter Study Conference: “From the theater of the threat to the cinema of ashes”(Fiesole, 2001) promoted by the National Union of Film Critics and the University of Florence.
His short novel “L’ultima neve alla masseria” (Demian Edizioni, Teramo 2012) was presented in the InMondadori and La Feltrinelli italian bookstores and with a reading at the Crypt Gallery in London, the Instituto Andaluz de la Juventud in Granada, Malzfabrik in Berlin, Milan Design Week 2015.

TRAVELLING IN 5 CONTINENTS

A lifetime of budget travels in 61 foreign countries + Alaska, Tibet, Palestine and 5 continents: at 5.50 pm on April 26, 2019 he reached the Arctic Circle from Alaska, driving along the legendary Dalton Highway. At 8.30 pm on March 21, 2023, after having been sailing 600 kilometres of Rio Ucayali in Perù for 30 hours on a small wooden boat, he reached the birthplace of Rio Amazonas (Amazon River).

THE ARCHIVE

Work and passion for cinema, music, theater and comics are collected in a private archive of over 15,000 titles including books, magazines, music albums (8,000 CDs and 5,000 vinyls), films, comics and memorabilia including a sitar of Jaipur is an NSM juke box from the 1970s. He presented some rarities about the Beatles on Red Ronnie’s television show “Mi ritorni in mente” (Raiuno, 1994).
